Priscilla

I've always wanted to paint a Bulldog, and I finally got my wish with this beauty. And the commission went to a good cause!

I donated a custom portrait to a charity event/auction in January. It was a benefit for a young woman named Caitlin. Caitlin, who works with my sister, was walking home from a homecoming bonfire the night before Thanksgiving, when she was struck by a car that was going very fast and never stopped. Caitlin sustained many injuries including head trauma and was in a coma for a long time. She is slowly-but-surely getting better (thank God), but as anyone can imagine, her medical bills are astronomical. The women at my sister's work (an adorable jewelry store called Sunshine Daydream) sponsored a benefit in honor of Caitlin and her family. I was honored to design the logo for the event (above), and to donate a custom pet portrait for the auction. The evening was a huge success!

I couldn't wait to find out what kind of dog I'd be painting....then I heard from Donna, an incredibly sweet woman with a precious Bulldog named Priscilla. This portrait took me a loooong time. As I've mentioned in previous posts, white dogs can be the most challenging to paint. And all those wrinkles! I learned a lot from the experience; I'm now ready for a Shar Pei...bring it on!

Thank you, Donna, for your interest in my work, for your support of a great cause, and for being a dream client. Enjoy the portrait!
